The Soil Research Institute Co-operative Credit Union (SRICCU) was established on 26th September 1999 by the employees of the Soil Research Institute. Recognizing the need for accessible financial services, a group of dedicated workers founded the credit union to support the financial well-being of its members. Initially, SRICCU served only institute employees, offering tailored services to meet their diverse financial needs. Over time, the credit union's commitment to its members earned it a reputation for reliability and stability.

Growth and Community Engagement
To better serve its members and the community, SRICCU expanded its membership beyond the Soil Research Institute, welcoming the broader community. This growth reflected SRICCU’s dedication to inclusivity and service. SRICCU is affiliated with the Ghana Co-operative Credit Union Association (CUA). As part of evoling, SRICCU embraced digital banking to enhance convenience and accessibility.
